VIOLIN UNTAMED is a violin library with the idea that the samples should sound like a performance. At the heart of the instrument is the unique improvised articulation of Westwood Instruments; A series of evolutionary and improvised notes. This sounds like a musician who takes your composition and adds individual direction and human performance.

Performed at 3 different intensities; The quieter layer is subtle and delicate, the middle layer brings more emotion and character, while the noisier layer sounds wild, intense and often chaotic. They sound beautiful only as individual notes or even more convincing when played as chord progressions.

Recorded in The Nave, one of the best recording studios in northern England; a church converted with the live room that sounds more beautiful. Engineer Alex Greaves used an impeccable set of classic microphones and vintage outboards to customize the perfect sound for the violin. With a single Neumann U87 in the heart of the mix, a stereo pair of Neumann KM184 and then two pairs of 4038 Coles, we gather a wide range of perspectives so you can mix exactly the sound you need.
